Four Muslim foreign exchange students are living in Homer
Alaska, for the first time since the program began in 2002.

The students arrived in August during Ramadan.
Alaska’s latitude made fasting during difficult – in August the days were 16 hours long.
All students come from Muslim-majority countries with vastly different climates than Alaska.
When asked about the most bizarre thing they’ve seen in Alaska, their answers varied some
but all agreed it was snow.
